Glad you got 'er fixed, had only limited success pulling balls over the years until I started using TOTW covered screws. They are really sharp and threading is kinda tapered.Since using these guys I've had zero failures to pull a ball.use a muzzle guard to center it,short rap of RR with my knife screw it in apply leather thong to RR attach to tree etc and pull away.I'm always rewarded with a "PLOOP" sound and a ball on a screw

Thanks 1234, I was wondering how in the world you would deal with this in the feild. it was a pretty good struggle with help, I told my wife after getting the ball out I would have been done if it had happend in the feild. My ball puller came from TOTW but I am not sure what brand it is, I'll check and see if I kept the packaging.

Thanks to all.

Make sure the ball is seated all the way down against the patent breech when trickling powder thru the touch hole before ye fire it, otherwise ye could build up a pressure spike that could bulge the barrel...do this each time ye put powder into the patent breech, because the ball may move up a ways and stop leaving a gap behind the ball! :v

You sure got a bunch of good advice since you are the first to ever do this! :rotf: My CO2 un-loader and I go every were together! Geo. T.

well i surrendered today :(
angry is an under statement, even though it was directed at myself. i got the lock off anad your right, it does need to come off from time to time at least, only a couple dozen shots through her and already there was greasy residue behind it, also got the liner out ok, tried several times packing powder in even using a hooked pick to kinda guide to where it needed to be, still no cigar. by the time i had taken this thing apart and put it together again the 4th or 5th time i was so mad my eyes was bulging and my language was deteriating severly so before i started using it for a bat i thought it best to lay it aside for awhile. tomorrow i am going to pick up a ball puller if i can find one and a nozzle kit for the air compressor.
wish me luck.....i need it.

Not trying to rub a sore spot but you got to explain how and why trickling powder didn't work please. Was it not going in, did you not get enough in, was it actually going off, was the ball seated against the end of the breach each time?

It takes like 3 or 4 grains of powder to get the bullet out and the patent breach should have room for 10-15 grains so I just can't figure why the powder wasn't doing the job. Thanks.

Once the powder trick didn't work & the ball puller stripped out. I didn't want to pull the breech plug. Installed a grease fitting & proceeded to pump the ball out with grease. Messy, but it worked.

Dean I wish I had the knowledge and experiance to answer that for you. I am half tempted to run a ball down it and try again, just incase.....

I don't know if this applies or not and don't mean to sound like a know it all but. When they said "a few grains" or "3 or 4 grains" they meant measured in grains. Not a couple of granules of powder. 3-4 grains is about as much as a .22 cal short case can hold. Actually makes quite a sharp crack and the ball will be across the room or through the window if you are not careful. If you can get that much powder behind the ball and can set it off, it is going to come out of the barrel. Just my - 2 cents.
