I am getting a new 58cal barrel. I have not decided on TC for roundballs and conicals or the GM for just roundballs. What do you think? Will a 58cal roundball kill a bison? I might go on a buffalo hunt. Not sure what I want. Probably GM since I shoot mainly roundball and is is so accurate. Your opinion. Do I need conicals for killing larger game like elk and bison?

Sharp Shooter,

I would not hesitate to take my PRB .58 GM 1-70 on a Bison hunt. You are looking at a 100 yard Max shot at a warsh tub kill zone, broadside shot only. It will punch right thru and he will pile up quickly. I would push that ball with 100 grains minimum.

Conicals would work also, and would not be a bad choice. But I would stick with a PRB iffin it was me.

I love my 58 GM. Super accurate and Deadly.

I know Idaho PRB shoots 120gr FFG with a patched roundball out of his GM barrel. What would that do on a buffalo?

He would probably drop like a sack of taders. If he didn't, he won't go far. Awesome load, couldn't think of a better one.

Sneak in close, make a perfect shot and make sure your Buffler Skinner is ready to work.
