Hey guys, just bought a book that came out in 2007, "The Light Infantry Officer, the Further Adventures of an Officer of the Light Bobs", by John H. Cooke. Never saw it in bookstores, found it on e-bay. The author was a Peninsular War veteran, this is 1/3 of his memoirs and deals with the American Campaign. He was at New Orleans and Dauphin Island, AL. Entertaining but no earth shattering revelations. He blames the failure of the campaign on the British failure of Dec 23 to push on to the unprepared city. Seems valid to me! He also acknowledges that Jackson was a "war general" and gives him respect. Some great details and insights from the British Point of view, I recommend the book.
