Wow!

What a piece of iron. Uberti Colt Walker, came in two weeks ago, just got off travel and went to the range today. Good lord, 50 grains of Goex FFFG, a Wonder Wad, a .454 ball and a cap of Wonder Seals. The thump was tremendious, every pair of eyeballs at the range rotate in your direction and a general murmer of "What the hell is that?" runs down the line. Then they look at the target... and the questions really start.

You hit the target at 50 yards? With that thing?
.....Ahhh yup... sure did, lost two, but then again I ain't really used to the gun yet.... (a general mumbling starts > about how much was spent on that brand new modern pistol and it don't shoot that good, dagnabit old horse pistol shots well enough, mumble, mumble, spent too much money, mumble, mumble)....

All in all, a great day at the range - ain't had that much fun in years.

Shot seven cylinders, no jaming, no real tightness - used T17 Natural Lube 1000 Plus on the cylinder pin. Cleaned up fine, fouling was nice and soft.

Glad to hear you had a good day. It really eats at the modern pistoleros when someone shooting a cap "n" ball does about as well as they do. :hatsoff:

I'm hitting the (admittedly big) 200 m silhouettes with a Walker.

I love the 'What the hell was that' when you fire it!

Glad you had a great day at the range!

It makes me antsy for my own Walker -- I have had one on order from S&S Firearms for 3 months. Hopefully it will be in soon.

Nice shooting!

Enjoy.

Aren't they a blast

My Walker has been idling too long, and I need to get in it back on the firing line!

What the Hell was that? That was the most powerful revolver in the world

In it's day!

Mike,

Nice target! Aren't the Walker Blasts something else? Mine makes perfectly round holes in the target, just like a wadcutter. Very accurate at that 50 grain loading too...wins pistol competitions with regularity! Enjoy yours and keep yer powder dry! :)

Accurate yes, but it does shoot high. Have to aim real low at 25, still low at 50, more or less on at 75 with a 6 o'clock hold. Have not got 100 down yet, just got 2 of 6 on the paper (say 12" round) first time out.

I guess someone wanted to keep those Mexican Lancers at a distance in 1847.

Yep. I believe the Walker/Dragoon was developed to support the cavalry open ground tactic - rifles over 100 yards, then (horse) pistols from 100 to 25 yards, then sabres.

Why dont you try shooting at 100 yds....?
the first time I shot at a piece of printer paper 8"x11" I felt really stupid...whenI glassed the target I swear that there was 5 holes in it...
couldnt believe it., so I walked down the 100 yds...sure enough 5 holes in the middle of the paper and one hole just off the paper to the left...totally amazing! it aint all that hard to do....try it!

Scalper:

Just as soon as I get to the range - why not... the big thing does not seem to mind the distance, so why should I (except for the bad eyes).
