Peter Dyson is advertising a rediscovered stash of Belgian hand-forged Damascus barrel tubes from the 1890s. Does anyone know of a good company that will finish the blanks - boreing to size, rifling and exterior grinding? I would like to get one for my Manton English sporting rifle if it can be done. Getz has done work on damascus barrels in the past, you might give them a call and see if they would do it. If not them, some of the smaller run operations might be willing to give it a shot. I've seen those barrels in the past, they would make an interesting project.

One thing to remember, those are just blanks. In the past it was a fairly common occurance to discover defects in damascus tubes when they were machined, if the process wasn't too far along they were sent back to have the welds closed up, this would be very difficult to have done today.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind and see if I can get some kind of return agreement from Peter Dyson (if I can find someone to do the barrel..).

Oscar Gaddy has done this type of work and there are others too.
I'll pm you a link.
