I said I will keep you informed of the development on the new Double Barrel Flintlock Fowler. The first 20Ga is shipped. We will test it shortly. I do expect some growing pains and changes on this pilot project. I asked the manufacturers to leave it in the white and not to finish the stock so we can make some changes. Here is some pics. Thanks to Heinrich and Izak (Titus) (and some others that are not on this forum) for their input.

WOW, can't wait to get mine. I wonder, too bad it can't be gotten in the white.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye, I do not see any problem to get it in the white. Just speak to the guys at MVTC. The manufacturers will have no problem. I spoke to them yesterday. I think it can be a great "kit" project that will appreciate some finer finishing touches.

Christiaan, it was an honour being part of this project and thank you for leading it for us. I am truly proud.

Do you have any of the figures about the length of pull, drop at the comb, cast off, etc? I really like the idea of making this available as a kit. IMHO it would look 100% better with browned hardware. You are doing fine so far. Please keep up the good work and thank you so very much for asking our opinions. I'm sure that this will work out well for you.

P.S. Where do I send my deposit to put one on hold?

Thanks for the kind words. I understand from the manufacturer that MVTC are interested to sell the gun in the US. You can maybe contact them.

Very nice!!! Now for the affordable part? I'm going to start saving now. 20ga --- 12ga wouldn't matter to me. :applause: :applause: :hatsoff:

Just damned, hard to believe we are seeing it in the flesh. Cannot wait for the final product to become available.

Like others, I would want it in the white. Knowing you and others will be recommending refinements, but I would definitely be sliming it down into a more dainty piece.

Can't thank you enough Christiaan (along with all all the others) for making this possible and eagerly looking forward to your testing and progress reports.

Thanks Tan, you will not know what those words mean to me. Just yesterday I pity-partied to my wife how other people will probably make a lot of money out of my ideas and initiatives. But your words is all the reward I can ask for. I hope lots will be blessed :hatsoff:

Having been there on more than a few occasions, I understand your predicament on not obtaining monetary rewards for your efforts, which are all too often not forthcoming to those deserving them.

But it is I and others who owe appreciation to you Christiaan, along with Heinrich and Titus (and the unnamed others) for pursuing this project.

I sent off an email including your photos to MVTC and almost immediately got a response, I will post their email here now:

Funny you should ask this today, as my job this afternoon is to photograph examples of English style sporting gun furniture to replace the Indian style furniture that is on the piece in the photos. If you look at the triggerguard and entry pipe finials, you will notice that they are very ethnic Indian in style. I believe the form of them began as an English “acorn” shape 200 years ago, then after being copied, then the copies being copied etc. for a generation, they ended up with the style as seen on the sample.

I’ve got some original Indian guns from the 1850’s that used this style of decoration, but I don’t think it would be right for a gun that is going to be sold as an English gun. I pointed this out to the Indians, and they sent me photos of a different style (also in steel), but it still wasn’t quite right (it used the Indianized version of the English “pineapple”. What I am going to do today is photograph some English style furniture to send them. I am requesting that they be done with brass furniture as well.

They also make breechloading SxS shotguns for the Indian market, but are not licensed for exporting them, so they are experienced in mating up a pair of barrels.

I have no idea on a price yet, as they haven’t told me yet. Presumably they will be more than the other muskets as there are twice the locks and twice the barrels to produce, and the barrels seem to be the bulk of the expense.

This is a fun project (actually, all gun projects are fun, this just happens to be the one that is fun today LOL)

If I get a chance, maybe later on tonight I will post some pictures of the other prototype with the “pineapple” furniture, just for the sake of discussion and to talk about the history of the different styles. It all boils down to having enough hours in the day! In the middle of all of this, I also have livestock to feed and am into a few modern gun projects as well.

Thanks,

Pete

!A W E S O M E! :applause:

This is fantastic...Look at her what a beauty..Like the other lads here I would want one in the white and with tons of extra material on the stock so I can add all my own personal touches.

2 round balls, says deer gun 70 grains per barell + 1 oz of shot per barell says ducks, partridge
and bunnies

If I can get one I think my other ladys may get a green with envy tone.

Cheers and thanks!!

Robert

I just e mailed middlesexvillage and requested to be put on the waiting list if they get these...

Mine "if I can get it" will be carved and personalized aplenty"

Its really satisfying to see that our (Christiaan, Heinrich, MC and myself) discussions has had worldwide repercussions. :shocked2:  We are honoured that our dreams and ideas are so well recieved around the globe. There are more to come.

I'm dieing to know how much? Also what kind of barrrels as far as the chokes are they cylinder bore or screw in .

I will have the sample in my hands in about three hours time. Then I can tell you. But I know it is cylinder bore so, NO CHOKE. I just want to see if there is enough metal to jug choke.
