I too have been in the same type situation, but I finally got my money back and chalked it up to a lesson. Last Fall I was wanting a 20ga. Fowler, I did some checking and did read some post here on the Forum, Caywood was definitely out. I ended up getting a Chambers Penn Fowler kit and having Mr. Mark Wheland finish it for me. I got it about three weeks ago and consider it one of the best decisions I ever made. He did a beautiful job, and even finished it early. I spoke with him several times during the process and he was always plesant, informative, and a gentleman. I will be using him again. If I hire you to do a job and we agree on terms, either tell me up front you can't or don't want the job and if you do agree to the job, if there are problems just pick up the phone and explain the situation to me. I may be dissapointed but will understand. Common courtesy. I hope you get your problem resolved and get the Fowler that you want. Good luck.

talked to Caywood today and he said my fowler would be ready next Tuesday. will let everyone know how it turns out. :hmm:

How did they finish the fowler that fast? Your first post on this was 4 days ago! I bet someone else will be wondering when their fowler will be done! :haha:

Yeah, that sounds like " the check is in the mail!" I would not hold your breath waiting for big brown to be delivering the gun in time for Turkey season.

Thats kinda what I was thinkin.I dont see it happenin.Makes ya wonder if these guys got a list of excuses hangin by the phone :(

It's pretty rotten to have a guy tell you the gun you already paid for has been delayed so he can generate some cash flow!! That's BAD customer service. :nono:

I would demand my money back and look elsewhere.
Yup,
That feller needs a lesson in good behavior,
I have seen a few really excelant smoothbores here on the classifieds also you can try Track of the wolf. They have quite a few smoothies for sale.
Thats why I like TVM, yes it takes a year but when your talking to Toni there is no :bull: and she has got to be the sweetest woman I have ever delt with on the phone

I don't want to sound annoyingly optimistic, but if they tell you it will be finished Tuesday, I'd take them at their word. I was so turned off by my own bad experiences with Danny that I would never buy another gun from him. That's not to say I wouldn't buy another Caywood, I just wouldn't buy another one from him. Just too difficult to deal with. Nice guns, but not a nice experience. Why support someone who is difficult to deal with when there are so many nice people out there who can turn your money into something worth shooting.

That said, Caywood has absoltely nothing to gain by telling you it will finish Tuesday if in fact it won't. It's not a matter of trust, but self interest. It's in Caywood's interest to fullfill his commitment, thus even if you are skeptical of someone, you can always be sure they will do what is right for themselves. Since taking care of their own interests coincides with your wishes, I think your gun will ship soon. Trust is only important when you want someone to do the right thing, and the right thing to do is difficult to understand and accomplish. This is a no brainer. Put the gun in a box and ship it to the person who paid for it.

Well, I hope your gun ships Tuesday and your patience is rewarded. My bet is that you'll have it as promised, but don't keep me in suspense. Let me know how it turns out.

Drove to Caywoods shop and picked up the fowler today. workmanship is excelent, lock is smooth and ignition is fast. have only put one load of shot thru it so far [ had to get the barrel dirty]so haven't patterned it yet. the world is looking much brighter now :applause:

Jim I am very happy that you got your gun. More than you can possibly believe. Danny should be a regular reader of this forum, because he would get some valuable information that would help him in his business.
