great looking knife!

(by the way - I didn't know that turtles had thirteen segments ... is that universal for all turtles?)

The turtle is of great symbolic importance among many tribes. In many Eastern tribes the turtle is directly involved in the creation of mother earth. It is said he essentially carries the world upon his back. He his a symbol of good health and longevity. As well the turtle has much wisdom, patience, perseverance and determination to do what is right and is self- reliant.

Also the turtle has thirteen moons on its back. The thirteen segments represent the thirteen lunar moons. The 28 smaller segments around the ring of the shell number in twenty eight, which represents the time between new moons.

All in all, I like turtles. My daughter wants one as a pet which I won't do. She's learning (slowly) like I did that each animal has a purpose and meaning, and some just don't make good pets. However I am learning three year olds just don't care, they want a turtle!

Dude, do you even sleep? I need to come visit you for a week just to learn a tiny minuscule amount of knowledge you have. You're so talented and creative my friend.

Your absolutely correct! I have an actual medal that was gifted to a native tribe (haven't found out who) during the signing of the treaty of Greenville.

This particular event ended the northwest Indian war in ohio. The medal is actually cast in a turtle silhouette.

I've been contemplating on donating it to our historical society so all can enjoy it's significance.

It was gifted to me by a fellow native at an event. We were discussing the historical significance of the native american presence in Ohio and particularly my area. They felt it right I had the medal since the treaty took place basically right up the road from me. Very great honor IMO!

That's cool man. Now that I think of it you are right up the road from Greenville.

Isn't there a museum or historical site for it? Sorry for being :eek:ff .
