A friend who has owned many original rifles had a batch of these cast years ago. I was able to pick this one up today, and it really finishes the rifle! One thing I have noticed on a fair amount of originals is the sheer thickness of the rear sights. This is a detail that I believe is overlooked today. Most if not all of the available commercial rear sights are thin buck horn types, they are also too vertical. Last thing you need is an 11lb rifle catching on a thin vertical sight! A rifle that was built for the toughest conditions, it only makes sense the sight was built tough also. Now I need to do a quick re-sight before Saturday! Opening day of gun season!
