My name is John Lindstrom and I live in the Black Hills. I developed an interest in black powder shooting back in high school. I ended up selling my Dixie Gun Works flintlock to a friend and worked on life, career and family.

A couple years ago a good friend and gunmaker took me to a local club shoot. I forgot how much I had missed the smell of black powder in the air.

For my 60th birthday my wife commissioned a custom flintlock from our friend. I am excited to take up traditional black powder shooting and look forward to learning from this forum.

Welcome John, from another South Dakotan

Lots of very good information here.

I think your wife is a keeper.

Welcome back. There are a few of us South Dakotan's here as well... although I am in the central part (Wessington Springs) not the western part of the state :hatsoff:

John, Welcome to our forum my friend! We are truly honored to have ya. I usually travel through your part of the country to get to Wyoming, where I'm from. Let me take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about our forum and its members.

This forum is the very best when it comes to Traditional Muzzleloader's and BP shooting! All the other aspects that go along with it are covered as well.

You will find like minded folks as yourself here. The majority of our members have decades of knowledge and experience. They would be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. We would also love to hear what you might want to share with us as well!

Our forum is a very friendly and lively place. New topics are being created on a daily basis. Something new for you to checkout all the time!

I can guarantee that you will learn something new each and every time you visit this forum. I personally learned more in just one year than all the others combined. You will too!

Again, We are honored to have you amongst our ranks. We also look forward to hearing more from you in the very near future.

Welcome aboard my friend!

Respectfully, Cowboy :hatsoff:

Yes there is. I plan on joining the Black Hills group if I can ever be home on meeting night. The range is about 15 minutes away.

Great, maybe I will get to one of the shoots and we’ll meet.
Been to some of their rendezvous but not their monthly shoots yet.

Thanks Cowby. I've learned a lot already just cruising the posts. Hoping to get some pics of my new piece posted

Welcome to the Forum, John Lindstrom! :hatsoff:

It is good to see you getting back into muzzleloading and blackpowder. We can feel your excitement.

I, too, will compliment your Wife. While mine can enjoy shooting the unmentionables with me, her asthma prevents her sharing my enthusiasm for the Dark Side. (That didn't stop her from giving me an Uberti Remington New Model Army .44 for Christmas.)

Continue sharing your enthusiasm with us. Pictures, when you get the new custom flintlock, maybe a target or two, a hunting tale....

And ask questions if you can't find the answer in back threads. Folks here have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and are happy to share it.
