i cut this 7 months ago and took pics after i striped the bark off, took these pics to day before i started to work on it. the last pics of it in nearly finished stage this wood is outstanding it is a thicker pice than the outher two,i have left it nearly the same as when the bark came of as you can see in the pics it has natural grooves in it from where the bark came of.
to get a nice color in it i mixed raw linseed and citrus oil and a pinch of saffron, the pics dont realy show the color up as well as as they should it has an orange tinge to it.i have orderd a blade from crazy crow an Old Time Trade-Style Solingen Blade - 6" see pic.i am thinking of glueing a 50 cent pice on the pommel it is a second world war commemorative
one.what do ya think.

Hey Bernie,
That looks real good.
I ordered a couple of those blades a while back.
They are good blades.

That wood looks like it will make a great knife handle. Do you have any idea of the moisture content? Might take it to the local lumber yard and have them test it.

dont no the moisture content, but when i cut a branch of the tree i take the bark of and cut it to about 3" over length, then seal the ends with wax and leave it for 7 months. if i leave it any longer it will start to crack i give it 2 to3 coats of leenseed oil before i work it.
