Thanks for the compliments,I just gave it a total take down and I cant believe the condition It’s a new gun there is not even a scratch on the hammer or nipple or even any powder residue on the stock anywhere barrel is shiny new yep it was a nice score.And shoots very accurate at 50 yards free hand in a 6 inch circle.
$135 for me.Nice. I paid $150 for one just like it.

I'm embarrassed to say that last Saturday I paid $199 for one that looks just like it - "Springfield Hawken" CVA - with a 8" barrel and "blonde" stock. But it looks good with a browned (well, mostly browned) barrel. Grooves are absolutely full of rust, but I'm working on gettting that all cleaned out (need to take it out to the range and shoot it out). Had a 6mmX1.0 (typical CVA threads) musket nipple with a reamed out flash hole - 1/8" initial dia. down to 1/16". Mine is a kit gun, that I had to hog out a bit of wood at the very back of the lock inlet so the sear arm would move again after I re-drilled the hole for the back (main) lock screw that was angled in and wedged/rubbed up against the breech hook/tang.

28" barrel, not 8".
CVA's (and Traditions) rifles like this one used beech wood for the stocks.
It is a blond, hard wood with a grain that is even tighter than maple.
Water and alcohol based stains work well on it but oil based stains work very poorly.
early model cva frontiers did come with maple stocks, very plain, so its hard to say exactly what this one is without close up pics.

O and i cant see but a blurred image at 50 yards eyes are not so good anymore

Got my CVA Frontier a couple of years back for $25; thought it was going to be for parts only as the bore was a fuzzy orange from muzzle to breach. I scrubbed it out with Scotch Brite to the point that there were only a couple of little freckles left near the muzzle. It shot fine, so I took some CVA Mountain Rifle parts that I had laying around and came up with what I call my Mini-Mountain Rifle.

Nice score $25 wow.ya i picked up a Hawken that had been sitting around for a long time thought the barrel was shot but after two days of cleaning it it turned out really nice not a blemish on it strong rifling shoots great.
