Hoddy! I've got on here a few times and read some of the posts and have enjoyed them a lot, but I was just too durn lazy to sign up. I shoot a bit with Huntin'fool and he e-mailed me the other day and told me I orta register and git involved a bit and I thought why not so here I be. I'm no expert at much of anything, but I've been shootin' these things for over 30 years and I've managed to not blow myself up or shoot anybody who didn't need shootin'. I was a Civil War re-enactor for near 20 years, the last ten as a Whitworth sharpshooter. Boy, that was fun. I mostly shoot a .40cal flintlock I built and I still like to shoot my Richmond musket and my Charleville. Right now, the Whitworth is needing some repairs and if I get off my butt and fix it, I'll shoot it. I do some blacksmithing and a little unprecise machining with a cheap(read Chinese)lathe and milling machine. I've enjoyed reading what you fellers have written (some things I might try myself!) and look forward to some more. I'm just happy to know I ain't the only nut out here. So long fer now.

Thanks a heap for the welcome! I'll be bouncin' around the various topics, so we're liable to run into each other on here at any time. I look forward to meeting you fellers, if only by dial-up.

Howdy,
I don't know if I can contribute much except to tell shooters to keep their thumbs clear of the flint when they're acleanin' the pan. I've stumbled through shootin' these things without major injury and have truly enjoyed the sport. The few friends I have are those who have the same love of history and the desire to shoot and discuss traditional muzzleloading weapons. I've already jumped into a few forums and put my two cents in for what it's worth. Huntinfool told me that this would be addictive and I guess he is actually right. Thanks to everyone for the welcome and I look forward to the discussions and hope that I can be of help to somebody. Now I need to find me a good picture to put next to my handle.

Welcome to the forum and advice on safety is more importantt than just about any other advice anyone can give.

Now I need to find me a good picture to put next to my handle.

Musketman sent me the avatar (that little picture) that I use. He issued an invitation here to anyone that wanted an avatar to PM him.

Thanks, I'm glad to be here. I saw Musketman's invite and may just take him up on it. I need to look through some pictures I have and see if there is something that can be used. I need to get off of here and get some work done. Huntinfool told me I would get addicted to this. Here it is my second day and my 14th post. I can't seem to shut up!

That's not so bad. Wait until a really hot debate topic pops up, and you find yourself compelled to login every chance you get just to follow the thread and add a comment or two. The number of posts will get pretty high quickly then.

I've probably chimed in more than a few times with an opinion I should've kept to myself, too, but this seems to be a pretty understanding bunch.
