Heres a new tomahawk I knocked out. A while back I was down taking classes at camp atterbury and saw a drawing of a militiaman from our area with a really short tomahawk that looked like this one so i thought it would be cool to make it. I will probably be giving this to one of the junior enlisted in my unit as a reward should it be okayed by the officers.

I like the shape and the basics of it very much, but would think it more proper and desirable with a smoother finish as originals would have had. Just MHO. :v

I have made several with a smoother finish but it seems a lot of folks like the rougher ones even though not pc. I also just knocked this one out really fast since i will be giving it away, i spent more time making the handle than i did making the head.

My personal tomahawk was brought to a polish, soaked in muratic acid for a few hours, and then heated up and cold blued. It gives it a really dark matte finish. It has found a spot in my hunting gear but will be switched to my search and rescue gear this weekend for drill.
