My plan just got swept into the trash can boys. Got quoted a fair price of 75 bucks for the job, but the smith is backed up for work, with a two year waiting list. Don't want to wait that long, so I'll live with the standard finish cylinder. I'm thinking a bath with a diluted vinegar solution might bring the color a little closer to the lighter shade of the pistol.

Good luck with your new project.

Good shooting!

Was hoping to do that today, but the weather didn't cooperate. I have some zeroing work to do on another gun, so I'm hoping to get to the range in the morning if the wind dies down. I'll give a report if it happens! Any suggestions for lightening the cylinder color just a bit?

I'm not qualified to answer your question cause I only shoot 'em, I don't re-blue 'em! Someone else more knowledgeable than I will have to help you with how to lighten the bluing without harming the cylinder.

I shot my son's Charcoal 1860 today and did quite well....I think I'll post a new topic about it!

Hope yours shoots as well as my son's!

Dave
