Here's my new toy. 6" barrel, .32 caliber (0 buck is cheap to shoot), copy of the original Ruggles patent action (1825). Made by Rod Olsen from Nebraska.

Lucky you! Underhammers are cool, rare as hens teeth and expensive.

Actually Paul's prices are very reasonable. This one, with 6" barrel, set me back $125 including shipping. I had originally thought about a 10"-12" barrel, and that would have been $175. That long of barrel on that style stock just wouldn't look right though; even if I added a shoulder stock to make a buggy rifle.

Should be a shooter. Do you patch those buck balls or shoot nekkid?
There is a small gun museum in Berryville, Arkansas. The Col. Saunders museum. (not the chicken guy) It has hundreds of underhammer pistols of various designs on display. A lot of ideas can be picked up just by looking at these.

Wow! that is a good deal. Last time I priced them they were a lot of money. A good deal makes a gun all the more fun to shoot.

That price is amazing. I've built several underhammers for myself and they are the least expensive way to build a gun but still there is a lot of machine work and wood work involved.

Forgot to ask before. What kind of loads are you using for this? I'm assuming 3F, but how many grains?

Ken,
Just wanted to say thanks again for the pics and recomendation of Rod Olsen. My UH arrived today and it is really a nice piece, his work is very good. Got mine in .45 and am looking forward to firing it.

Thank you Mark, and others, who sent me his contact info.

We're in communication and I hope to have one soon!

Cody,
You won't be sorry. A friend looked at mine today and at first took it for an original. I had Rod put an antique finish on mine.

Mark,
I believe he sent me a photo of yours while we were first brokering the deal. I went with maple like most of the early Ruggles I have looked at, but he didn't have any .32 barrel length in stock so I'm getting a .36.
