Here are the next projects I am going to complete, hope I can do the blanks justice. :shocked2:

I have two in the works.

The first is a log gun based off an Early Virginia, I have about as much done to the stock as I can at this point. I am waiting on the barrel, which is a 1-1/8 43" 45cal from Mark DeHaas. (this is also getting picked up next weekend) It is getting a Large Siler perc. It will be pretty close to a Virginia, except for the big chunk of wood at the forend of the stock and the big brass tube mounted over the top of the barrel. I am also leaving as much wood as possible just to keep it heavy. I am going to use a Lehman style trigger guard on it which will be more comfortable shooting prone.

The other is a Bedford. I got pics of a beautiful stock that Rich Greensides just finished for me. It is an easy grade 4+ CM stock. Also the barrel is finished both from Mark DeHaas, my father is picking it up next weekend at the Misouri match It is getting a 7/8" 44 1/4" 45cal barrel. I am finishing it with silver hardware, however I am going to keep the inlays to a minimum. I just cant get myself to cover up such a pretty stock with inlays. personal preferance I guess. This is going to be a flint. Really my only choice was a L&R, but it was reworked by a friend and is a much nicer lock than when I first got it.

Im taking a trip out to IL to visit my father for a few days, I will be picking up all the parts then. That will keep me busy for a while :haha:

As I am a KLUTZ I could turn that in to SCRAP if I start a project like that. :hmm:

Your photo sure don't do that top blank justice!! That looks like a killer piece of lumber, not to take anything from the bottom one. :shocked2: :bow:

That top blank is an extraordinary piece of wood, when it is wetted with a damp rag the figure is amazing, the bottom piece is so my wife wont feel like she got shorted.
Both of these rifles will be for personal use, both 50 cal. B weight Colerain's. The top is 42" and the bottom is 38".

I am a bit apprehensive as I have only worked with pre-carves at this point, 3 to be exact. The bonus is that all three were inletted for the barrel and ramrod only. I will definitly be taking pics along the way.

Seeing I'm 75, my wife thinks I'm crazy in the head presently working 3 LRs....one Bucks County from a blank, a Chambers Early Lancaster and just started a Rupp Lehigh from a blank. Perhaps I shouldn't shave until all 3 are finished?....that might spur me on. Don't know why I do this but perhaps she's right. Thats some nice wood and is a lot better than what I use. It seems some of the wood I buy sight unseen has more curl in the forestock vs the butt and it should be the other way around........Fred

Got a 46" Ed Rayle barrel about 2 months ago a stock blank a wk later and now I have a John Noll rifle. Still have to carve and engrave. Made all of the parts except lock, barrel, butt plate and triger guard. Already planning the next one. Addictions are a @$%&$.

Fred I've seen your work, an all I can say is :bow: . Its guys like you that make it possible for newer folks to pursue this venture and not make to many catastrophic mistakes.

Some addictions are good, wish I had the time to pour into the projects like that. 7 weeks from blank to shooter is moving along.

Not sure what sniper sees, but I see very tight curl over 98% coverage on the blank. Should be a beaut.
