I'm new to muzzleloading and have acquired a Thompson Centet Hawken style rifle. The problem is my uncle who sold it to me had the rear site removed. In its place there's a scope and scope mount. I want to attend a NMLRA shoot and I'm not sure what category I can shoot in.

With iron sites I believe you’ll be eligible for many offhand rifle matches, as well as the primitive matches, including woods walk and Seneca interactive matches. Running boar is also a fun match you should try.

There are scoped/optic matches on the offhand line, as well as some silhouette matches, but I’m not certain on those particular matches. Hope to see you there!

Hello and welcome. You may look at Aggregate Z Unlimited Longhunter. 25 yard squirrel, 50 yd. groundhog, 50 yd. deer, 100yd. buffalo. Offhand (standing). 5 shots on each target. Any sight including scopes.
There are many more matches that are limited to open sights and others for any metallic sight including peeps, but not scopes.
