Zonie,.... I unnerstand what you'n Ohio Joe are say'n, and thets fine,.... guess I'm jest tired of tha "constant push" of tha inline industry wether it's in tha "record book", lobbies, BP magazines, hunt'n shows, or Cabela's'n etc.

Everywher ya turn nowaday if'nya mention muzzleloaders,.... you'll git bombarded with "inline propaganda".

I realize thet I ain't gonna "change tha tide"!
I also realize thet money is tha "motivator"!
AND,.... I realize thet tha N.M.L.R.A. is gonna do what they want regardless of what I "think/like".

Do you know what happened to the N.M.L.R.A. Western National Rendezvous back in tha early 90's????

Ever wonder why tha Rocky Mountain National Western rendezvous was formed and is now tha largest rondy west'a tha Mississippi, and it's main message is:.. the R.M.N.W. is in no way connected with the N.M.L.R.A.??

If you like the association,.... I hope it "treats you well"!!

Tha way things are go'n,.... Jim Shockey'll probly be chairman of tha N.M.L.R.A. some day!!

rollingb,

I know that none of us traditional folks would intentionally make purchases to support the inline craze. I only put that out there to show just how inner'twined this whole industry has become. It's a shame, that's for sure! There are still things we need.

I will still make my purchases, and the rest of us should too. Afterall, those companies were based on tradition long before non tradition came into fashion...

Jim Shockey will never know what tradition is about, or the feel of a traditional hunt. That is his loss, not our's. He may see himself as a record holder of some trophy, but with what he used, it's laughable at best. I'm not saying I could do better with a good 'ol traditional muzzle loader with open iron sights, but I would at least try. :peace:

Thanks, rollingb. I'm sure you could teach him a whole lot more then I could. I have no doubts about that! :peace:

i am a life member of the nra i also belong to the nmlra i have only been a member for 3 years. i joined these organizations because i feel there is strengh in numbers. i do not like all the mail from the nra or when they send me a vidio tape with a bill i didnt order and have called them and voiced my complaint they said they were sorry and wouldnt do it again. i also take issue with the nmlra and inlines, jim shocky but do not believe dropping my membership is the answer. i believe dropping out is a reactive step but i believe as a group we can be proactive come up with ideas and they will listen to us. just like this wonderful forum we have traditional and modern shooters they make oppurtunities for both groups to share thier love of the sport. all shooters need to stick together and work out our diferences or we will fall apart from within. just remember that the most grizzled buckskinner started out as a pilgam we can only hope the inliners with our encouragement will see the light. i hope this makes sence i find it hard to write down what im thinking plus i am not good on computers.

I just received a solicitation from the NMLRA as part of a large scale mailing campaign and their suggested "minimum donation" was $50. I mailed their solicitation form back to them with the following statement written on it:

"The NMLRA Longrifle Record Book was established for the purpose of celebrating and recording significant accomplishments using traditional muzzleloaders...to level the playing field by setting apart those accomplishments from modern day, longer range, scope mounted, rifles...and this includes modern made, scope mounted, plastic stocked, stainless steel rifles made today under the guise of being a "muzzleloader".

Until you remove the recently entered Jim Shockey "records" from the Longrifle Record Book that he acheived using these modern, scope mounted, plastic stocked, stainless steel "muzzleloaders", and restore the record book to it's originally intended purpose, it's difficult for me to justify any continued support for the NMLRA at all. Go back to your roots and do the right thing.

We humans are an interesting lot...particularly in our communications with one another and just reviewing how this thread has evolved is an example.

I simply made a post to share a message I had sent to the NMLRA in response to their request for still yet additional financial donations...and my only hope was that it might get added to other similar messages they might receive on the record book subject and contribute to getting somebody's attention at the NMLRA.

In this thread however, there are posts covering the full range of reactions from one extreme of dropping memberships...through allegations of destroying the NMLRA...to another extreme of sticking with the NMLRA til we die...etc, etc.

We humans are an interesting lot for sure

I belong to both the NRA and NMLRA and, despite some differences with each, plan to continue my memberships. We need as many voices as possible in the anti-gun environment in which we live. The NRA is the big boy as far as lobbying goes, but I like the specialized voice of muzzle-loaders. I read Muzzleloader as well as Muzzle Blasts and wish both were weeklies. When there are problems in any state, we need numbers to impress politicians. I've never fired an in-line, but have regressed (progressed?) from a '94 Winchester to a caplock to a flintlock. I think we should encourage everyone to join NMLRA if for no other reason than to impress the politicians. We can thrash out our arguments over types of rifles among ourselves. Graybeard :m2c:
