I was out at the Shoot this morning. It was cloudy and light sprinkles. Did not really rain but looked threatening.

If I remember correctly, the Swiss was $22 a can. I bought Goex and that was $15, a can as earlier reported. The powder seemed to be going quickly. There was a steady line around 10:00 am.

There were about 25 vendors selling ML supplies, etc.

Stopped in to watch some “Off-Hand” shooting. Good scores being posted and there were about 20 shooters when I stopped in around 11:00 am.

I went out this morning and bought some Goex. I asked the gal at the tent how long she expected the supply to last and she didn't expect to run out before end-of-the-day Saturday. The above price for Goex was correct, but I think she quoted $23 on Swiss. They had to get up out of their chairs to wait on me at 9:30-10:00 AM. I think the estimate of 25 vendors was about right. This was my first Western Shoot, so I don't have any comparisons to make. I wasn't shooting, so I didn't look at pre-registrations. I stopped in at each venue and saw about 20 at each of bench, pistol and off-hand when I looked. Cartridge had about 10 when I looked.

How many were the most George you recall?

Most I ever say was like I said, and that was 12 years ago, there were two solid rows on each side of Trader Row on each side, and two rows back to back up the middle of Trader Row.

Well Bruce You remember when Russel Griffing gave you the exact facts on another board?
Somewhere in the 60's. You know I can look it up.
So come out and visit I'll be at the powder mag most of the day.

Honestly years past in the late 90’s there were a lot more Traders on Trader Row, and I also counted the score of Blanket Trader in the Primitive Camp in my NUMBER, but the bottom line is the number of traders is way down, the number of shooters is way down compared to the early years of the WNS.

I did go out to today, and saw some old friends, some new faces, spoke to Zonie, and went by the Power Guy, who was there along with his lady helper not doing much. He said Power Sales were WAY DOWN this year.

Walked the Trader Row, and many of the Traders who use to come were not there, IMHO the Trader were down like 40% of past year high. Some of the New Trader had some nice stuff. Event spend a few buck on the wife.

Spent some time over at the Primitive Range watching the shooters, and the SMELL of Black Power in the air got my juices flowing.

NMLRA Field Rep, Dana Dore tried to sell me a raffle ticket, and tried to get me to re join the NMLRA joking if I rejoined it would blow away the office, staff and directors. :rotf: I said ill pass, and we both laughed.

You are a Newby. I have not missed this shoot in the last 10 years. I did not see you on the line did I? Oh, you don't think we can travel with our "Puters" :rotf:

So as I am sure someone went to the membership meeting last night, will there be another WNS in 2011? I would say yes, as the NMLRA don't want to loose any more members. IMHO if the WNS goes the Western Member will not be happy.

As for the Number of Traders in the past, the Member who was the shoot coordinator before the current guy Bill Lockridge, and the guy before Jim Swanson who name I can not remember was a Volunteer also at BASF for Game & Fish.

He told of the early days of the WNS when he was the volunteer event coordinator. He mentioned the number of traders, Cabellas send their mobile store to the shoot, media coverage, etc. etc. etc. He was able to to these thing because of his business back ground. Plus a lot of friend who had connections. He retire from the volunteer position, and more, on and like man now only come to the WNS to buy powder, supplies, and see old friend.

Yes. Penny you have the facts. This event is only a thin shadow of what it was. Some of the fellows who attend to pick up powder each year don't really understand what it was. This was the center for BP shooting in west. It was a chance for western folks to renew the sport each year. The NMLRA just doesn't see anything west of Indiana as being worth while to the cause. I think if some one put a powder magazine in Arizona they wouldn't need it at all. :(

A powder Magazine was going to be built at Ben Avery, and the gentleman (DON)w ho sells powder use to give the NMLRA a small stipend on ever pound sold at the WNS, for that Powder Magazine. Storys source Don.

BATFE told Don last year the Magazine he was using that Big White Ice Chest, was no longer necessary, so as you saw this year NO ICE CHEST this year.

Wonder if Don will get a refund of the years, and years of stipend money raised for the magazine, now that it will not be built?

The idea of the Powder Magazine was to help Don if he had power left over, or came out west for another event he could drop off powder for the WNS.

Years ago I belonged to the Bouse Hills Muzzleloaders in La Paz Co. Az., Don would drop off an order each year for the club. We got a good club price for all of our members. We know darn well the money for the powder magazine went east never to be seen again. Their answer :idunno:

Well this is SOP for the group. The only power the individual member has is to vote for persons they want on the NMLRA BOD, most running, and the current BOD are mostly East of the Mississippi people and a whole lot from the State of Indiana.

The other thing you can do is write letter or e-mails to the current BOD, and see if what they say is going to happen next year happens.
