[ Well I personally see zero hope for the event as The Trader was about 20, and the picking were slim. Number of Register Shooter I heard today was ALMOST 260 total. rotf:

What happened to the OLD Winter Shoot with 125 Plus Trader, and over 1200 Registered Shoots back in the day when Dave Arnold was NMLRA Pres. :bull:

Still not bad as Real black powder was one again for Sale in the Valley of the Sun for what was it 4 or 5 days?
:hatsoff:

As I recall, the Ass'n. has made a substantial investment over the years in this event, because there was a faction in the staff that really liked the eventual idea of trying to shift things into the West. My own opinion is that they didn't realize that it was only a small group that could afford to travel extensively to shoot, or to be able to retire to the SW.

I find you post interesting as apparently you believe the Muzzleloading is an East of the Mississippi thing. There are many People, & Club Shooting Muzzleloaders West of the Mississippi, but also a Large Percentage of the Group are Ex NMLRA, or Never Have Been NMLRA Member for a Verity of Reasons.

Also what is the NMLRA Really doing to Promote traditional Muzzleloading, Buckskinning, Early American Crafts like (Flint Knapping, Scrim Shaw, Horn Building, Blacksmithing, etc. ) that where very popular in Friendship in the 1970’s, and 1980’s when the NMLRA had Membership number like 28k?

Than NMLRA Membership fell to 21K in the late 1990’s, and I understand that NMLRA Membership has dropped to like 14-15K today. Apparently the NMLRA is doing noting to promote Traditional Muzzleloading, or it Organization as if it was the number would be going up.
