The binding up is one of the reasons that these guns are so accurate--I feel it's the result of very close tolerance between the forcing cone and the cylinder's chamber mouths. The Dragoons had the cylinder shortened to give some relief to this problem.

Having more than one revolver is the way to go....some say I look silly with my 3rd Model Dragoon on my left hip and the Walker on my right since I'm only 5'5" :rotf: :shocked2: :haha: .

Enjoy making smoke, no matter what you're using!

The problem is when the gap is too wide on the Walker. This allows gas to blow residue down around the arbor{base Pin} and the carbon biuld up around the pin binds the cylinder. When buying a used Walker always check the base pin at 12 Oclock in front of the cylinder. They tend to have gas cuts on the pin very early from the heavy charges. :(

As much as most C&B shooters like the ROA, Ruger discontinued the revolver as a sound business practice. They sell ten times as many Vaqueros and Blackhawks. You stay in business by making what sells.

And that is the reason S&W discontinued the Model 52. World class target pistol straight out of the box.

Those were very nice SW 52.. Now they are "collectible"
I guess every thing changes.. I am starting to sound like my father. :hmm:
Will keep my eye out for a good deal on one..the oldarmy.. and hope that some American company will start to make a cap and ball again.

So,
the local gun store is having their annual sale and there are gun reps there..
I corner the Ruger rep... who doesn't have a clue, BTW..
When I grill him about the Old ARMY. He tells me they quit making them because they didn't sell.. And Ruger has AND I QOUTE " THOUSANDS IN STOCK" :bull:
So I told him... I will buy a couple from you on the spot..
Now it's "well maybe we sold them all" :rotf:
However he did hold out to the idea if demand and the prices increase, they will make another run of them.
That was the problem in the first place. CHEAP POS Italian C&B flooding the market, and one over priced, but very sound American one.

They have done this numorous times with that gun and the Bisley. Right now things have really slowed down with gun sales since this time last year. Mark my words, sometime in next ten years, if we are still allowed to own guns, they will have another run of them.
