Let me tell everyone, the gun shot great!! I went out and put about 10 balls down range with no major problems at all. I did find that a .672 ball with a .18 patch would not fit, so i shot it unpatched. But it is a smoothbore, so i know this is fine. Also, it produced quite a bit of fouling when using 2f goex (that was all my buddy had) in the pan and barrel. I had to run a patch after every 2 shots or the ball was extremely hard to run down the barrel. Other than that, it worked wonderful. What a boom! Love the feel of it in your chest when it shot.

Many thanks to Wick Ellerbe for getting my lock in proper working order

Nice! Glad Wick was able to get the gun up and running. :hatsoff: How was the lock time with 2f in the pan? Did it go right off, or did you notice a delay?

I did notice a good delay with the 2f in the pan, but that was all we had. Just for fun i put 3f equivalent of pyrodex in the pan and barrel without a ball. What a delay that had! Just to simplify and not have to buy 2 different kinds of powder, i think i am going to go with goex 3f in barrel and pan, instead of 4f in the pan. All in all, beautiful gun, and lots of fun!

That sounds like a wise decision to me.

3Fg powder will work nicely in all flintlocks.

As I've mentioned a long time ago, I read all of the wondrous comments about 4F powder for priming so I bought a can of it.

I honestly couldn't tell the difference except I now had two different powder flasks to fool with.

I ended up going back to 3Fg powder and 3/4 of a pound of 4F just sitting there on the shelf.
