I made a musket capper using scrap leather and a hole punch, it works well and you can cut the leather into pleasing shapes...
I think red pony beads are nice, I don't care for the blue ones. I once made shoulder straps for my Blackfoot style war shirt, it took over 7'000 beads per strip, the design was of a double headed hawk...
You can take a old wig (straight, long black hair) and make scalps out of it, they look great hanging off of the tipi's lodge poles...
Years ago, to make a muzzle cover for my .69 caliber musket, I took a tanned mink hide and lined it with pillow ticking, then I fitted it to cover the top length of the firearm... It looked like a mink was laying on the end of my barrel, it's little legs were even dangling... :haha:
