I've just ordered my first custom gun from John Anderson, here in Tullahoma.
What I've ordered is not patterened after any particular rifle or style of rifle at all.
I've been playing around with a lot of different rifles at the local club & I like different aspects of many different rifles, so I decided 'What the hell....' & figured I'd incorporate them all into one gun.
It's a full maple stock, with a Iron mounted with a Hawken style buttplate, Southern style cheekpiece & toeplate. 15" LOP with 3¼" drop. The lock is a Bails style percussion with a semi-fancy lockplate. The barrel is a 42" .54 caliber octogon-to-round affair & I'll be having an iron nosecap & entry thimble.
Now that I write it down, it even sounds ugly to me, but I know it's what I want. It'll be light & nimble without being tiny & frail. Nicely balanced & hopefully not as pug-ugly as it sounds :hmm: :rotf:
Anyone else own oddball, wierd combinations of guns that don't follow the 'pattern'?
