Another internet hunter/shooter who apparently never achieved anything other than his option for muzzleloading… yet many followed. There’s todays advertising…
Note how many companies continued supporting him, long after he 1st was caught hunting illegally..
Sad

Just like others "toby who?" so quick search to check him out. Also has FB page , last post 3-11 .
Will be interesting to see how long it takes Mt FWP to catch him.

Pretty sure when he was working for Knight he went on a campaign to have patched round balls banned from hunting because HE said they were only capable of wounding game and unethical to use. When he went on that rant I knew he was a dirt bag. I would imagine this was when he was pushing saboted rounds as the only thing M/L hunters should shoot. He was undoubtedly saying this because of what ever bullet company was sponsoring him and he was pushing their product.

I've never heard of him either, but he sounds like a real loser

I remember reading that. I thought that he just had an agenda to sell modern inlines by trashing traditional muzzleloaders, and to promote himself as the muzzleloading guru

Yep, the all knowing "expert" attempted to convince states to set the minimum energy requirement for muzzleloaders at 1,000 foot pounds. That would have eliminated the use of patched round balls in many muzzleloaders.

I stopped reading his stuff years ago. He was just a paid mouthpiece for whoever was footing the bill. He wrote a bunch of stuff claiming that a PRB would not kill game and should not be used. We should all buy his sponser inlines instead. Nothing but greed and ego.

IronHand

I remember reading articles by him in some of the shooting rags back in the 70’s. Never paid too much attention to him, but I’m surprised to learn what he is really like - very disappointing.
Yes I read a lot of his content back in the 70's, that's why I caught the name...from what I'm reading in this thread, he's really developed some issues later in life. What a Hack.

Recently, he created a Traditional Muzzleloader Hunting platform. Instead of a lot of his own content, he helped regular guys and gals tell their traditional muzzleloader hunting story. It is interesting that he "turned the mic over" to voices other than his own. That content could have been interesting as it was unsolicited, unsponsored real stories from "regular" hunters. I supposed that will fall by the wayside now. That may have been the one outlet he created that would have actually turn out useful. There are plenty of other venues and surely someone else can create a new one so no big loss.

I've seen this before on a number of occasions. As a Professional Hunter in RSA and a hunting ranch and business owner in the USA, I've hosted and hunted with quite a # of "celebrity" hunters. A few have succumbed to this same path. The only thing I can think of is that the pressure to come up with video and photo of success to satisfy sponsors with new content pushes them over the edge. Not to change the topic, but one such "celebrity", Bill Busbice was a multi-millionaire, owner of 55, 000 acres and ranches in 3 States, a paid product sponsor and the "star" of a hunting TV show. He said he accidentally shot a cow elk calf while shooting at a bull. Instead of reporting the incident, he attempted to hide the calf and buried it. Of course, someone saw him and he got caught. Lost his hunting privilege and paid a fine and got probation. He also lost his sponsorships, shows, product sale went down, his reputation was ruined and his sons who were in the hunting business lost sales and opportunity. The news said he had been cited before for wildlife violations. This guy that could hunt anywhere and could afford "luxury" hunts, had his own property, etc. couldn't control himself and couldn't stay above board.

Is there that much pressure and temptation in remaining relevant in the industry? I'm glad I retired and got out of it.
