I pulled my JB Mountain rifle out of the case this week to show a friend and the hammer didn't work. This is an1988, unfired rifle.
Pulled the side plate today and found this: broken main spring.
Where do I begin my parts search?
This looks like an investment cast spring, is that correct?

Replacement springs for these rifles that are no longer in production are hard to come by. I sold the only spare one I had about 4 months ago on this forum. Hope you can find one, cause the JBMR isa great gun.

You might be able to find a replacent lock that will fit the inletting at Track Of The Wolf?
Is there a name on the lock? Just because the rifle is branded Browning does not mean they made the lock.
L&R might be the OEM for that component.

The Browning lock is “unique” with the roller tumbler. It’s also a poor design in that the pressure increases as the lock is cocked. Finding a spring will be hard and then your back to were you started. If I was facing the problem again I’d look to replacing the lock. I know this is bitter pill but the cost or effort to make a spring is high.

Not sure of the spring attachment method, but if the remains of it can be easily removed, a hobby blacksmith might be able to make a usable replacement.

I think I have found a guy who has some spring making experience over on my other board. I will be sending it to him.

Thank you everyone, very much.
Ken
Ken, if you don't mind could you PM the guy's name who is going to make you a spring. I'm in the same boat as you. Thanks.
