I just got off the phone with Pecatonica.
I didn't know they could do this. Was curious how many of you would like thus. A southern mnt 32 cal.with a 3/4barrel with 3/4of the length milled down so it would be octagon to round and super lite.
Front sight would be solder on of course.
Typing this makes me think just go with A weight swamped southern mnt 32 cal.

Well I'm hooked. Probably have to take out 2nd mortgage.LOL
I can get a swamped 32 caliber 42 in A weight barrel from Rice.
Two questions square or radius rifling
2nd ? 1/48 or 1/66.
I've always been under the impression 1/66 would be more accurate.Everything I read is small cal needs 1/48. If 1/66 is best for round ball that's probably what I want.
I had a Douglass barrel15 yrs ago but it wasn't very consistent but then that could have been the ole guy jerking the trigger.
Thanks

I recently received my TVM Late Lancaster with a Rice “B contour swamped” .32 X 38" with a special twist rate of 1-30 with round bottom.
This I am told is the same twist rate that the TC .32 cal barrels had.
Plan to use it for squirrels

round bottom seems to be easier to clean. for a 32 I would go with either a 48 or 32 twist. I wonder what the weight would be for a octagon to round 32 caliber barrel. with small caliber barrels can be surprisingly heavy. in my experience 48 twist likes charges of 20-30 grains and the 32 twist I have gotten really good accuracy with 15 grains. I have herd of people getting hunting accuracy with charges as small as 10 grains but I have not experienced that.
