First to the original poster's problem. I have owned Pedersoli rifles, pistols, and shotguns for over 30 years and have never seen flaws like pictured in your post. I have emailed Pedersoli directly and gotten a response within two days, so you may try this approach. I do not know who the supplier was, but I would return the Bess for a refund. It seems a replacement would not suit you because you want a historically correct Bess which Pedersoli does not offer. If your only complaint was that it could not be made to be historically correct, then that's on you. But clearly it is the workmanship in this particular item that is at fault and NO ONE should accept an inferior product. Personally, I would not even entertain the idea of buying a new stock and fit the Pedersoli parts. You should not have to do that.
To respond to those who use the terms "Pedicrapi" and refer to their employees as "Guiseppe Joe" and other condescending and derogatory terms, you do the discussion no help. Without Pedersoli, Uberti, Chiappa, and others, the sport would not have come as far as it has. What sources do you have that prove they are "digging out seconds" to meet demand? Or is that just your opinion? Could it be that somewhere along the line, a bad one got through? Can we discuss this without condemning the entire company?
I am an ffl who buys wholesale from vendors, Flintlocks, Etc. for one, and I examine every item I sell as I receive it from the supplier. If I saw your example, it would never have shipped. I know large companies do not examine every item they ship. That's why you have the right to send it back on their dime. Since we do not know where you got it from, I will not venture a further opinion. Deal with the seller.
