For those interested in some powder facts.
Swiss powder is a true and likely the ONLY "sporting" grade black being made today.
Sporting black powder is for them funny looking brass thingy's we call CARTRIDGES.
Swiss is very usefull in small bore rifles and pistols, BUT cut your loads back by about 20%.
If you use Swiss in calibers larger than .45, and you can do so safely, you should go UP one grain size and still cut the charge by 20%. For instance if you use Goex or Elephant 2fg in your .50 or larger bore then go to Swiss 1.5 G and so on.
The other brands of powder are more like a musket grade, Schuetzen is a rifle grade powder. The new Goex is better than it used to be because they now use a better more pure saltpeter.
Swiss uses only the very best sulphure, saltpeter, and a special charcoal made from a specific wood.
Also Swiss is probably milled better. Don't know that for sure, but it is good stuff used as intended.
Be very carefull with 777 powder. That stuff gives much higher velocity (over my Oehler) than Elephnat or Goex.
Besides it ain't black powder. I will say that if I could not get real black I would use 777 over anything else.
Just some random thoughts. :shocking:
