I recently purchased a Numrich Arms Swivel Barrel rifle (.45). I want to strip finish and brown it. My question is about disassembling the gun. The barrels are held onto the frame by a knurled bolt (?) that uses an allen wrench. It is a bit difficult to get leverage, so I want to know what I am doing before putting torque on it. Is it a left or right to loosen? I put some pressure on a lefty loosey, but no movement. Of course, it probably has not been taken apart since the 70s if ever after it left the factory. Anyone here ever taken one of these apart? Thanks. (stock has been removed, not like in the photo.)

Try getting some penetrating oil in there. In a day or so repeat your attempt. Acetone sometimes can soften ossified oil and rust too, but it isn't a lubricant by itself. A 50-50 mix with automatic transmission fluid works even better than penetrating oil.

The allen bolt is right handed, turn to left to loosen. The bolt has shoulder that butts up to barrels. There is two springs and two ball bearings between barrels and frame. Hope this helps.

I recommend soaking over night with either kroil or a 50/50 mixture of acetone/automatic transmission fluid. It is a standard right hand thread. I have one of those rifles myself and find it is a very accurate rifle using a .435 ball and ten thousands patch. Though the back action lock has a heavy trigger pull since it uses the same spring for both the mainspring and sear spring using both ends.
