I got my Hopkins and Allen marked "OFFHAND". .36 cal. 20 inch barrel new in the 60’s

It came with no forearm or provisions for a forearm.

It came with a .343 mold and that works great, I also shoot 00 buck (.330) and Hornadys SWC .314 pistol bullets with the same patch I use with the 00 Buck.

All shoot very well. Gun has a 1:34 twist.

I only shoot true black powder, I have shot as low as 7gr, and 15gr is just a hoot to shoot, I also shoot 35gr

My muzzle loading calibers are .22 to .75 and my .36’s are my favorites

If I can help, just ask

My .45cal took a .433 ball and patch. I replaced the nipple with an Ampco 14/32 nipple once 1000+ shots latter nipple is still good.

Shot a cow moose with a Lyman 455 Minnie ball that was under bore size until patched with easy wider cig or dope paper then lubed with melted wonder lube.

She took 2 Minnie's and went 25 yards into a beaver pond where she immediately sunk all but her nose. Brrrr! That was a very chilly recovery.

the "long sleeve shirt" thing always amazes me?
I've shot mine for a number of years and have never experienced the "spray" that is so often mentioned??? Guess I'm just lucky( or I'm doing it wrong?? )

I have one of those and mine likes a .330-.340 ball, depending on the patch I use. Mine is a little carbine with a thick barrel. I don’t get the burn myself but I have a little cup around the nipple. Mine is very accurate. I own a few of those rifles in fact and they are all very accurate. As has been already said, the bores are tighter than most other brands of rifles. I use 35 grains 3f or 40 gr. Black MZ in mine. YMMV.
