I have been to two gun shows and several sporting goods stores with no luck. Any reason why there are no #10 (pistol) caps?

We have plenty of both in my neck of the woods but if you want the Magnum caps you need to order them. I am currently shooting the Remington #10's that claim they are 40% hotter. They work great on my GPR! Geo. T.

We've had plenty of #10's here. I've been collecting them slowly. Then I went to the store today to pick up some more, and they only had #11's.... Until I thumbed through the hanging rack of 11's... to find two packs of #10's stuffed at the rear of the hanging rack. Picked them up.

Having a hard time finding .451, .454 and .457 round balls here, and they were out of Wonder Wads in .44 caliber. Everything has been short around here lately except caps.

Seems the panic buying of metallic cartridges and reloading supplies has slowing spread to the black powder market. Alot of "out of stock" replies when looking for round balls.

I cast most of my own, but at times it is nice to pick up a box or two of Hornady or Speer roundballs.

My local Cabelas was having a problem with keep caps on the shelf. If they had #11 they had no #10's. If they had #10's they had no #11.

I think things are getting back to normal. They now have lots of Hi-cap mags, lots of bullits and both #10 and #11 caps.

Bobby I surely hope you are right. These "panic buyings" make it hard on all types of shooting.

Since I started casting my own roundballs what is on the shelf at the store has escaped my notice.
Good job cow girl.
I get my pure lead from rotometal when I can afford it.

We have a new store in the area, opened last thursday. Going to wait for the crush to die down before I visit it. maybe this coming weekend-- it's a Cabela's. People were waiting in line for a couple of days to enter. Hopefully they'l have buy all the new fangled stuff and leave the BP stuff alone.

I was figuring that by April things would get back to normal.

With the anouncement that the assult weapons ban can not pass things will get back to normal soon.

The good thing about this run on firearms and ammo is that it made a few people get into black powder type firearms since there was nothing else to but.

Same #10 spot that Basspro has ,but always empty
even when times were better just can't get them here in Calif.
Got a fairly good touch on pinching #11 to stay put :haha:

The caps are definitely the weak link in the chain. I've got a ton of some of the caps I use and fewer of others. Next time I'm going to be near a BassPro I'll take an inventory, and say a little prayer that they'll have something helpful...

Well I went to BassPro and they finally had the #10 caps I been lookin' for. They had two tins, I bought two tins.

After deer season, Feb. 1st, WalMart had a big sale on their black powder stuff. I bought 15 tins of Magnum #11 caps on sale, at half price,so I am good in that department. Picked up some other stuff because the "price" was right.

Like the man says some of the balls are getting scarce. He He so I bought Lee moulds in the calibers I shoot. Now I need to find a dentist who has the pure lead X-Ray throw away lead. :stir:

I bought the total supply (6 tins) of #10 caps at the largest gun store in Virginia @ $6.99 ea. just down the road, Bass Pro had at least a dozen tins on display @7.95 ea.

Re lead, all of the local dentists seem to have gone to digital images so no more lead there but the local stained glass shop still gives me their scrap.

my local cabelas has never been able to keep caps in stock. they wait till a week after the shelves are empty to order and then they onley order one size/brand at a time.

for me its all about remington #10s, i use em in all my caplocks pistol or rifle.

I just got back from Cabelas here in the valley and they had probably 7 racks of Remington #10's. I picked up another tin, so I have probably about 800 in my safe. Doesn't seem to be a problem here, just need to get my casting stuff and order some lead and find some beeswax for my wads.
