Unless you count NCO's like Sargants . There where No 'Offficers' fusils issued. Officers bought their own kit. Unlike the French who seemed to issue all sorts of grades to all ranks ,mostly Napolionic I believe. Even Bounapart wansnt a' Gentleman' and any that where kept low or where ' shortened ' or in exile . That some had carbines they where likley their own along with their fowling pieces dogs & batman . There where' temporry Gentle men' rose by merit from the ranks . Like' Sharpe' in effect. But outside of India ( Example Robert Clive )and Wellington earned his trade in India with Seringapatam & Placey adding to his CV .That some officers drew Carbines (16 bore being 'carbine's even if 42" barrelled )if most ran 37" or less isn't in question just not meant or issued as such . . I may be incorrect but I don't think so . Regards Rudyard

Well billed as a 'nay sayer' I may add that I wrote nothing derogatory of the offered musket . It looks fine and no doubt is fine . But this' Officers Carbine' notion is wishful thinking . If readers prefer fantasy fine by me .
