And to the gun, though it is interesting and not too common, I would think $200 would be a very generous offer.
A $1000 later, repaired and refitted, would probably bring you $1100.

A shame they did that comb work cause otherwise it would be a beauty. I would not invest in a high end restoration, but I might remove that comb myself and make a new piece for it. How many doubles do you see from that era. Pretty cool.

I'm waiting on a set of barrel tubes to start building a French Double Gun. I'd be interested in it around that price, just to be able to measure it dissect it and inspect the way they put them together.

Also, I'd bet money that the TG is a recent replacement too. I've saved a lot of research material on Empire Period and immediately prior to that French double guns and I've never seen on with a TG of that shape.

That's true, pillar front is normal French and Durs Egg brought it to London after his stay in Paris but it never caught on. I have seen pillar front and back on a Dutch musket, I don't think it is common but my brain is getting cob-webby.
