Well it's ready for stain AGAIN lol
What I did to mess it up. Used inletting black to put some old gun look to it. Wrong
Then to make it stay and not rub off with the oil finishe I sparr uerethaned it two coats let dry. The started with Permalyn looked good I thought but something must have had a time delay built in. The second day not so good looking.LOL
So here it is stripped and ready for new wardrobe. Lol
This is how I learn and can let some guys know don't don't. I believe Shelby Stanga swamp man says. Just Don't Doit LOL

Couldn't sleep. Got a couple fingers giving me fits. So I got up and smoothed out the finish on my SMR and rubbed another coat on it. Pics tomorrow. Maybe messy g it up was for the better. It's more slim and much better color and overall look. Tomorrow.
May as well throw my workbench pics in. I added a couple shelves to a little area that was a catchall.

I did basically the same thing. Used Permalyn and almost instantly regretted it. Not sure why but my stock also looked worse the following day. The definition in the grain faded and looked muddy. Stripped the stock, no small feat, and lightly sanded. Had to refresh the incised carving a bit. This time, 2x aquafortis, blush and used Track’s original oil finish, tinted with Laurel mountain’s stain. Many coats and took my time. Turned out beautiful. BAD experience with Permalyn, won’t go down that road again.
