Past couple of days looking for caps, I've seen hazmat charges from 30 to 50 bucks from different retailers.
This is the post to which I was referring...

I asked the lady how much for the hazmat and she said $75.00. Also, said they don't take phone orders. They were out of stock using one link but when I pushed the link at the top of the page that said "black powder", a completely different picture of all white boxes came up. Available in Swiss 2f and all grades of Scheutzen. She said " Travelers " was same powder but in a different package. It was $275 for 10 lbs. Plus $75.00 hazmat + shipping.

I bought 20 lbs of powder and 5 tins of caps in October and powder cost was $19.50 per pound delivered. Powder at the time was $16.50/lb so looks like Shipping and HazMat worked out to be @$70.

I have all I need for now, but the last time caps were hard to find I stopped at a local hardware store that catered to the Amish and they had two and a half cases( 1000/case) on the shelf. I bought one of the cases and left the rest.I suggest you try small out of the way stores that sell shooting supplies. they are out there if you know where to look.

Been looking everywhere for #11 caps, seems no one has any in stock. I did find 2 places that said they have them, but minimum order was $200 and $300. Dont need that many supplies right now.
Just finished my first build, have everything I need now except the caps.
Guess I'll be waiting awhile longer to get to the range and work up a load.

Guess that will give me time to read up on all of the muzzleloading do,s and donts and as question.

Have a great day everyone
Purchase a Prime All #11 and a #10 Percussion Cap Maker and the Prime All charging mix. It will get you shooting. Besides the kit you will need some soda cans that you cut into 3/4 strips. Clean everything well. I rub the aluminum with scotch bright.

Every month or so, my local Scheels gets a batch of #11's in. Unfortunately, I need #10s. I usually buy a tin of the 11's anyway, because they will work for my applications; they just aren't my preference.

shortages will continue for any components or loaded ammo until the boomers get to old to shoot any more.I talked to a 70 year old guy that had a million 22 RF rounds. did not want to ask him about anything else

Today is the last day of muzzleloading season here in Ohio. Everyone bought them up a while ago. If you were near me here in Ohio, I could give you a tin. A have a few unopened tins.

Not really hoarding, buying and reselling for a profit. Goes to manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, dealers, and entrepreneurs looking to make quick money... Recently seen one wholesaler purchase an entire inventory of an item from a reasonably priced wholesaler just to resell with a stupid price...

Like one dealer buying all the primers from Cabela's then selling them in his store for double or quadruple the price knowing they will sell...

Wizard. Im in an RV park 6 miles south of Port A. I have some here with me. If you want to come down here Id give you a tin or 2. I have one tin of CCI #11 and several tins of Remington #10 which will also work. Up to you.

Thanks BigAl, let me look at my schedule and get back with ya.

I used to just buy a tin or two at my local gunshop when needed, but since they became scarce I ordered them online and to make the hazmat fee bearable I have about 3,000.
