Does any one have any idea what "old bones" is? I used some to dye a powder horn over the weekend and with 2-3 coats it does give a descent color. It says to wear rubber gloves and I was wondering what is really is.

It's the remains of those who didn't heed the, "wear gloves when using" warning.

Now thats just sick, seek help gobbler   Seriously, does anyone know what it is? is it an acid or what.

I believe it is something like potassium permiate, which you can buy at any drug store. We had this thread several times before and a search should give you some detailed discussions, including the proper chemical compounds and names. We have had a couple of chemical engineers who posted here in the past.

I have used it many times, with varying reasults.

Good strong tea will do almost the same thing.
