The Black Powder League of the Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club, based in Old Bridge, NJ will hold it's Semi-Annual Novelty Black Powder League Shoot on Sunday 11-03-13 at our Outdoor Range facility.

The festivities will commence with a Pistol Novelty Shoot starting right around 09:00 hrs. and will consist of various tricky shots. Some are easy and others are NOT, lol! Immediately after the Pistoleros get a crack at things, our Members will set-up a completely different scenario for the Riflemen (and Ladies) to give it a whack!

Everything from balloon bustin' to exploding targets will be encountered, and word has it there might even be a team Wood-Chompin' Competition for the glory!

The Public is invited to watch and those interested in shooting our League need to bring their own equipment and supplies, eyes & ears, pay a $20 fee to shoot and sign a waiver. Weather looks really nice for this Sunday, so we should have a heck of a BANG of a good time!

Directions can be found on our Club's web site: www.obrpc.org .

Hope to maybe see a few NJ folks come on out!

BUMP!

I won the Pistol Match for the Turkey.

Somebody ask what I used or how I did it and I'll relay same.

If all I hear are Crickets......then I know nobody cares, lol!

NJ allows such? Personally I'm not risking incarceration which the State Police are known for trumping up charges for there but, OK...

Whadja use and how'd ya win the turkey?

Thank you, and we enjoyed having you visit us too!

You're welcome any time to come shoot with us on the first Sunday 12 months a year!

Yes NJ allows such, lol! I can't for the life of me understand why muzzleloaders are the least well informed cross section of shooters that I've ever encountered. Our club has folks from 5 States attend USPSA Matches for runnin' & gunnin'!

Basically if you want to show up at a Jersey Match, all you need to do is to make sure that you store the rifle or pistol either in a car trunk or in the back of a SUV in an UNLOADED condition, and in some sort of case (soft or hard, no matter). That's basically it, except to say that while traveling with hand guns, you should plan your route so as to not make un-needed stops along the way. Go directly to & from the range, your residence, a FFL, Gunsmith, firearms supplier, etc.

As far as what I used to win the turkey: My 12" Pietta Stainless 1858 New Model Army Buffalo revolver. Loads were 35 grains of 3Fg Goex, a lubed wonder-wad, and a .454 Hornady ball. I scored a 44x50 with my Pietta, and at the same target, same distance (20 yards) our rifle shooters did, only with them shooting a 48x50-1x on the same 5 bull buffalo NMLRA target. So I managed to be only 4 points down from expert riflemen who routinely can cut playing cards in half, lol! Not bad, eh?

And thanks for quieting the Crickets!

Dave

P.S.: If you're ever up from a Mid-Atlantic State that isn't NJ, look me up and maybe you can get some trigger time in!

I am not a club guy, I have to be dragged kicking and whining to anything like a shoot.

Last winter I started shooting a weekly 3d shoot with my recurve bow. I was nagged into it by two guys at work :yakyak:

Man I'm glad those two wouldn't let up.

If your like me, I recommend stepping outside your comfort zone, drag your own self to a shoot. . . . Your better half might have to drag you back home

We have a lot in common. I USED to not like organized shoots. Now it's practically all I shoot. I even help run matches and perform CRSO responsibilities at TWO clubs!

Organized matches are the best way I know of getting better through peer pressure & tutoring. You get to see what works for others in REAL TIME and then apply it to your technique on the SAME DAY! And you can't help but learn to shoot better doing it!
