Ok let me fist say a Real Big Thank You to all that helped me in the past 2 months.about 8 weeks ago i acuired a Tc Cherokee in .32.I had no experience with small bore front stuffers but had a dream of ouwning one to kill tree rats ever sence it got boring with a .22lr a few years ago.
Well friday night we my family my wife and 3 boys12 ,13 ,8 set out for the state park camp grounds we set camp built a fire had dinner and i set to casting 30 balls over the camp fire. the next morning we set out @ 6am into the woods i was like kid @ 725am i shot my first tree rat @ 25 yards and about 30ft up in the neck shot 5 more by 3pm and i still am filled with a child like excitement i feel as good well better then when my boys killed there first i'm hooked bad. best time i had in a long long time. oh well my .22 rifle will be colecting dust for a while as i feel no need to take it afield any longer .

Squirrel season in the west in no big deal. Here in Wyoming most folks never heard of it. The season here is long on Fox Squirrels bag limit 10 per day 20 in possision. I never knew of anyone hunting them, someone must. The critters get big and no one wants them. We have too many other things to hunt so shooting these things are of no interest.
I much prefer shooting Ruff Grouse with a .32 M/L over hunting squirrels. Pine and Ruff can be taken with a rifle 2 mos. each year.

Sounds like you had a great time. Camping with the family and hunting also ... does it get any better.

no sir it doesn't.and a dinner of squirrel & dumplings stew cooked over an open fire on a tripod in an old Griswold duch oven.mmm mmm mmm mmm mmmm.

Shadz, stop it your making me hungry! The thing I miss the most about living in Utah is no tree squirrels. Quess they all moved to Wyoming.
Not much that can beat the taste of squirrels,
prime rib roast maybe but not no grouse.

Shadz, that's great! I'm at the same stage, myself. Hunting them with a .22 is too much like sniping. If I can see them, or even a part of them, down they come. Looking for a .32 right now too. I keep hoping to find a decent T/C but will probably settle for a Crockett for now. Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing it with us. :)
