Ordered My Rifle Kit today!

Not the one I really wanted(Chambers Early Lancaster), but a Lyman GPR 54cal Flint.A realistic evaluation of my finances told me it would probably be next year before I could possibly save enough. Delivery will be 4-6 weeks, but for a price of $332 delivered, I can wait. I figure it will be good practice and I can make some smoke this year.
Mean while, I will continue to work on my accoutrements.

The lyman will help tune up your skills for the Chambers gun when you are ready. Have fun with your project.

Tommy, that's exactly what I was thinking. I plan on doing extensive stock mods to get it more like the true Hawken. Found a couple of good articles on the Lyman lock and tuning. I even have an inlay idea for the stock that is just a personal thing.

congrats on you new purchase (that's a pretty good price, too). This forum is a wealth of good advice. Also, there are a bunch of really good videos out there for rent- money well spent.

(you should be warned, however, that this might be your first build, but will definately not be your last)
