Question about ordering custom barrels from Ed Rayl. I have talked to him on the phone and he said he needed specifications, but couldn't elaborate as to what demensions of the barrels I wanted to order. I know length and calibers and type just not sure if he's wanting thickness or any other figures??? I'm getting an 8 bore swamped jager 30'' barrel a .75 caliber blunderbuss pistol barrel a .66 cannon muzzled smoothbore pistol barrel and a 10 guage cannon muzzled 50'' smoothing barrel. Any suggestions about specifics with ordering would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dang! :shocked2:
Thats quite an order. I ordered a barrel from him and he didnt ask about thickness and stuff. Just caliber, length, and shape. Sounds like you got quite a few projects to keep ya busy.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply ok I know the shape and caliber so guess I'm good to go sweet. Yeah have a few projects to work on I love building guns. These will be for a hunting safari to Africa with my father. So it'll be pretty sweet can't wait to start.

Draw a little diagram like they show for Colerain and Getz barrels in the catalogs. Tell him, for example, that you want a barrel that is 1 1/8" at the breech, tapered for 18" down to 7/8", straight for so many inches, then flare out to 1" at the muzzle...or something like that.

I have a brass rifle barrel I had him make for me that I got years ago and still haven't gotten around to using...

I'm slowly working through all the barrels and stock blanks I have propped up against the walls... and no, you can't have that barrel. It took over a year to get it!!!
