Guns like this put lots of meat in the pot and were certainly used extensively on the expanding frontier of our Country. The lightly engraved lock shows no maker marks and the 32” barrel is also unmarked. I believe that this is likely an American made fowler that remains in unmolested condition right down to the original flared ramrod. I would guess it to be a 12 bore or slightly larger, I can measure if it becomes important to someone. The gun feels light in the hand and weighs in around 6.5 lbs. There is some wood loss at the tang, the nipple is shot, and the lock would need attention to hold full cock. I do believe that the Fowler would be easy to recommission if that was the desire of a new owner. I do not see anything on the gun that has been replaced and it displays well as a solid piece of Americana. Price $325 shipped and insured to your door in the lower 48.
