Hey...enough season talk...how are you PA guys making out? What are you guys planning and experiencing?

Yesterday around 4:15, five does tried to sneak pass me, around 40 - 50 yds. Had a good sight picture on the third one, broadside, between two trees. Put the sight just behind the front shoulder, took careful aim, and ...click/pffft as the flash pan went off but no main charge. Recharged the pan but the noise and movement was too much for them as the all took off. :( Later on, I touched it off, no problem, to empty it.:shake:
I wish it would snow, but not much prospect of that for the next two weeks.

Flintlocks are all I care to hunt with or shoot anymore. I took a doe the last saturday of our regular rifle season here in PA and I still have a tag for our flintlock season yet. I have this Saturday off and Monday as well. I am really wishing for some snow but it is not going to happen this weekend. Good luck to all and a happy New Year.

I saw a very nice 4 pointer on Wednesday and since he did not have 3 pointson a side I had to pass. He may have had a brow tine that would have made him legal, but I was not about to take the chance. But it was fun to watch him and I did draw down on him a few times just to get the feel. he was no more than 40 - 50 yards away. Ah, next year - maybe.

Sound good you guys are seeing some deer. I was out the last two days and didn't see anything. Still great to have the freedom and health to be out there. Met two other hunters in the woods walking in tonight and we all hunted together. One of them saw one deer but myself and the other hunter had no sighting. Watching the beautiful moon come up and shing through the lonely cold December timber was a beautiful site as was walking out in the dark timber with the moon shining the way.

Hey...enough season talk...how are you PA guys making out? I have been out twice and it has been warm which has been kinda nice. First day I spent stalking. Flushed out two deer but not an ethical shot so I let them go. Other time I didn't see any. Sure is great to be out there and I hope to get out about a dozen times over the season. What are you guys planning and experiencing?

missed a doe at 50 yards tonight at dusk  don't know why....still got two weeks, so stay tuned :v .............bob

Olegreenhead...where are you seeing all those deer. I hunt between Dixons and Cabelas. Was out four days on my vacation this week and only saw deer one of the days and it was running.

Out every day till 12:00 and seeing nothing. I'm not giving up, hope it gets better next week.
Craig

I am back at work tomorrow unfortunately but it would be an awesome day for still hunting with all the rain falling today. Hoping to get out half a day on Saturday.

You clearly have more hunting drive than I do to be out there today in this rain. It's still raining here and my yard is a lake. Go hard ! :hatsoff:

don't fergit 26.00 fer a doe tag....but you'll have to wait till next year in august fer the doe tag :v ...........bob

You can use the buck tag that comes with the regular license for a buck or a doe in the flintlock season after Christmas. So, depending on when you come to hunt...you may not need to buy a doe license in the August Lottery to hunt.

Well, a little over a week left in the Pa flintlock season. Man, the temp's have been brutaly warm. Today it was 60!!!

Way too warm for this time of year. I look forward to flintlock season in the snow, but snow may not be in the picture this year. Bummer.

The deer are just bedding up in the day and with the clear sky and full moon, feeding at night. With the crunchy leaves, it's tough hunting on your own or even with just two.

But hey.....it beats workin!!! :blah:

Dave.

Yes it has been crazy warm here for our PA season. I keep wishing for snow but I certainly didn't need it today to see the albino doe coming through the woods. Pure white and pink eyes. Beautiful to see. This is her second season and she has gotten big. I have not seen here brother around though. I don't know if he made it through the rifle season. He was a five point so not legal here unless a junior hunter got him.

I had a nice sized four pointer (not legal in PA) take a leisurly stroll about 35 yards past me last night. It was fun to watch him in the 10X binocs for about ten minutes.
