Tried out my new trail camera. No wonder I can't find the deer...they are coming through in the dark :). Saturday is the last day and they are calling for rain :cursing:

:hmm: You should have been out last Saturday---it was 69-70 by ten AM, near Bradford. Saw a couple of very small does and the only "rack" I would have a chance at---but I passed it by only a spike buck. It was so warm I was in a long sleeved "tee" under my Traditional wool shirt & Red Toque and I was sweating a bit. This is the second year I have been skunked by the weather. Opening day of duck season here on the Island was also warm in the 70's by 11:00AM---pulled in the dekes and went home. There's always next year ( I get olderer and olderer ) so I say it with "God be Willing".

i'm going to be out thur, fri and sat to smoke some more deer, hopefuly....the've been round every night so far when i drive by my hunting spot :v .............bob

I just got my flintlock rifle a week before Christmas, had two shooting sessions, and will finally be able to hunt this Saturday, the last day of the PA season. As stated a few post back, it's supposed to rain, and this really, really sucks!!! The last thing a new flintlocker needs on his first day hunting with a new flintlock is rain.

Oh well.....they say that you learn to do by doing. If nothing else, I'll probably learn what now to do with a flintlock in the rain.

here in the northeast there saying light rain if any first thing in the mourning then cloudy all day....since i hunt the late afternoon it looks good tommorrow since i missed one tonight at 4:45 :v ...............bob

In my section of Western Pa, a buck must have 4pts per side to be legal. This is all nonsense in my opinion anyway because many bucks may have shed their rack by now and are being shot as does.

There is a early flintlock season in Pa. It,s during the archery season an you can only shoot a doe then you got your late season like your saying I always liked it less hunters the snow and now less deer to see. So you better get in for that early season 1 week only :hatsoff:

FOUR points!? Wow, I thought the 3 ponts was a challenge. Is this Allegeny County or is it a larger area? Could you give me an idea of the Management Unit involved? I am from Allegheny County - long time ago.

Well, no joy for me this year. Between the rain and warm weather, the deer bedded down all day long. I hunt in a large apple orchard and the owners say they have been seeing the deer between 11pm and 1 in the morning. Oh well, it was fun to be out without all the crazies during the regular rifle season who shoot at anything that moves. Better luck next year!

Yo Recon -- that would be this year, my friend! Just 11 more months until the Primative opens again and shorter than that for early muzzle loading. We don't have to use inlines.

yer buck tag can be used as a doe tag in the late flintlock season in PA :v .........bob

Well...my flintlock season ended with about ten days hunting and no shots at deer. Don't know where all the deer are they say we have in PA. Guess they are just smarter than me cause I can't find em. I still had fun and I'm looking forward to getting out in February to do some scouting if we have snow for next year as well as shooting in my new .54 caliber barrel for my Deer Stalker flinter. Traditional archery and flintlocks make life so much better

Heres the outlay of the 4pt rule.Start up at Erie co and work your way down south to Greene co. All those co,s in there are 4pt to a side.Move to the right of the state like forest co. all the way across the state and it turn,s to 3 pt to aside this is counting the browtine of course if they grew them and not all buck grow them. This state is getting messed up with all the manure the g/c is doing :shake:

Brother, you got that right! I recall when you could stuff the regulations in your shirt pocket. Now, they look like Time magazine, AND you nee to be a lawyer AND an expert in geography to understand tehm.
