Hey guys I recently picked up a traditions pa long rifle, its in preety nice shape but stock could use a little TLC, But that's ok IM a hunter not collector.Anyway I usually start with 80 grns 3f with prb and .10 patcing to sight in anyone got any better sugestions or recomendations. All comments will deeply be appreciated.

What's the caliber? I run 50 grns with 0.010" PRB in both my 58 and 45 but that's just at the range.

hey lawman if you are using a .490 ball I would use a .15 to .18 thousands patch if you are using a .495 ball the .10 thousands patch should be ok. good shooting let us know how it shoots.

If you go to a .10 patch I would use a 1/8 fiber wad over the powder to protect that thin patch from blowing to pieces. I use one with my .22 patch an it helps a lot when it comes to improving accuracy.

Tuesday at the range I was hitting a 2'x2' metal target at 200 yards with my 58 cal Zouave rifle loaded with a 0.490 RB, 0.10 patch and 50 grns of FFG. I don't think it gets too much better than that.

btech, A .58 cal rifle using a .50 cal prb at 200 yds? Great shooting!!! I usually use a .577 minnie ball and only get that accuracy on rare occasions. Good stuff! Bob E

My bad! Getting my calibers confused. 0.570 RB, 0.010 patch with 50 grains. Tried the 0.015 patch but it's pretty hard to beat into my barrel.
