Hi guys

Living in florida, palmettos are everywhere and I was wondering how they would perform as wadding since it's fibres appears similar to tow. I'm aware of the gun that was pulled from the swanee that had palmetto fiber in it but I was wondering if anyone has actually used it and how it performs. I'm also wondering what kind of fire risk shooting it would pose since it's pretty flammable.

Thanks

I've collected a small amount of palmetto fibre from the woods. Is it good to use as is or should I rinse it under running water and let it dry. It's pretty dusty as it is now.

We call it monkey hair when we use it for flint and steel demos. I have used it for wadding and for cleaning with a tow worm. Around here it is about as cheap as you can get. That would be free with a little sweat equity

Thanks for the info. It's definitely free for me since my backyard is full of the stuff. I have used it with my worm after rinsing it and it works perfect.
