I bought a new one in that same time frame, was about $225 or so. Inflation! May have been 250, but definitely not 300.I have a Birmingham made Parker-Hale 2-band that I bought new in 1974 or perhaps 1975. Serial #229X.
The 1861 was proofed in 1973 and the 1858 in 1974. Nice serial number on your Pattern 1858!Parker-Hale Musketoon 1861
