After a great haul of Parker-Hale serial numbers here in UK over the last couple of weeks, it's time to ask the membership here to take a minute and post me their number and model for the record being maintained by David Minshall of research Press here in UK.

Even those made after production was taken over by Euroarms manufacturers in Italy are of interest, so please don't be shy if your serial number is higher than around 14000 or so. It is ALL of interest.

TIA.

My Parker-Hale Enfields:

2 Band = 446X

3 Band = 301X

Musketoon = 562X

The X represents a single number. I refuse to give the full serial number of my guns on the Internet.

2 Parker-Hale Musketoons :
1541
8251

Parker-Hale .451 Volunteer:
15132

The Volunteer has British proofs on the barrel but is a high #? I don't know, if it's in a Euroarms stock etc it doesn't matter to me.

If you're adding notes on current status or condition of the rifles, the Volunteer will soon have a Malcolm scope mounted.

Also have what was sold to me as a Birmingham produced 3-band P53 on layaway but don't know the #.

Only just picked up on this thread... thanks for being proactive.

Along with Serial Number, Model (& barrel length / rifling type for the Volunteers) the key piece of information is the proof date code from the underside of the barrel. This is a tiny stamp with two letters and a number between crossed swords or in a circle, after the proof load information. This is the biggest help in establishing production time line. If anyone is really keen - also check the pitch of rifling of the P.53 (three-band) Enfield - some were made with 1 in 48 rifling rather than complying with the Pattern 1 in 78 rifling.

If you're willing to share info. but don't want to post in the public forum, please PM me.

Thanks,

David

I have a Birmingham made Parker-Hale 2-band that I bought new in 1974 or perhaps 1975. Serial #229X.

Whitworth #813

Thank you. I've been asked by David Minshall, the archivist, if you would be kind enough to give us details of the proof marks under the barrel. In particular the letters around the sceptre stamp to each side and underneath. This will allow us to actually date the manufacture to the year.

TIA

He already has them T.
I sent him a PM some time ago.

Nice collection there Stan. And by the way, what laundry detergent are you using? :D

Hi
I recently bought a PH Musketoon, Serial number 81XX. The proof mark seems to show ZB (struck twice so indistinct) which puts it at 1974 I think. This puzzles me, as previous posts seem to suggest that serial numbers in the 8000s were much later. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

BTW I already forwarded this info onto Research Press for their list but haven't heard back. I have some good photos if needed.
Thanks in advance
F.

How did you try contacting me; can’t find any record right now? Send me a PM here.

Yes, 1974 would be early for the serial number range you suggest. Could the date code have been miss-read?

David
