Parts for Ruger Old Army?

My best friend and hunting companion recently passed away. I am planning on buying his ROA. I believe the gun is in pieces in a box because he broke the ramming mechanism on it a few years ago. I don’t know exactly what will need replaced but think the rod is bent too. What are my chances of finding parts for this gun and getting it back up and running? Where or who do I turn to for this? Ruger Old Army parts are on ebay fairly frequently. Prices vary quite a bit depending on interest. Got a cylinder pin for a friend last year.

EBAY has the rammer assembly in blue or stainless. I purchased one of each as spares. The stainless was somewhere around $75 and the blue was around $60. I purchased them about 4 months ago. They are quality made parts and well worth the money

there are also companies which manufacture aftermarket parts for those specific parts you seek, including a longer rammer...

Well they already have the Gettysburg address stamped in the barrel, a few more lines won't even be noticed ! Actually any decent home machinist will be able to repair or mill out a new loading ram and properly heat treat it. That is about all that ever goes wrong with them in my experience and even that won't happen if the lock screw is turned back to battery each time.

Got to see the ROA. It is stainless and the loading rod pin ( I think that is what it is called) is indeed broken. The rest of everything is in good shape. So far I have found a new pin on Flebay but it is blue and not stainless. I have called the businesses that were recommended but no luck. Thinking this gun is going to have to have a blues pin so I can get it back up and running. Anyone else have a suggestion who to check with for a stainless loading ram assembly pin? Greg

Thanks guys.......I did find a stainless pin this morning and got it ordered. Years ago I owned a blue ROA and never had any problems with it the year or two I owned it. Is having a spare pin or any other spare parts advisable in your opinions? I look forward to shooting and hunting with this Ruger for many years to come! Greg
